flydubai signs Buckingham Palace Declaration to help protect endangered species
DUBAI – flydubai, the Dubai-based carrier, has officially signed the Buckingham Palace Declaration, joining United for Wildlife’s Transport Taskforce to combat wildlife trafficking.
Founded by Prince William and The Royal Foundation, United for Wildlife aims to protect endangered species by disrupting trafficking routes and strengthening supply chain systems across the globe.
The signing took place during the Dubai Airshow 2025 and was signed by Mohamed Hassan, Senior Vice President of Airport Services & Cargo at flydubai.
How will flydubai contribute
As a member of the Transport Taskforce, flydubai will work alongside other airlines, law enforcement agencies and customs authorities to detect and deter wildlife trafficking. The carrier will enhance cargo and passenger screening systems across its network and participate in intelligence sharing to prevent illegal wildlife products from entering legitimate transport channels.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, stated that with more than 135 destinations, the airline recognises the aviation industry’s responsibility in preventing trafficking and protecting endangered species. The airline will also invest in employee and passenger awareness initiatives to promote responsible travel and trade.
Combating wildlife trafficking
flydubai’s participation supports the UAE’s wider commitment to combat illegal wildlife trafficking and preserve biodiversity. Through collaboration, the airline aims to reinforce security processes within the aviation sector and ensure that transportation networks are not abused for illicit trade.
Lord William Hague, Co-Chair of United for Wildlife, welcomed the airline’s commitment, highlighting the importance of flydubai’s extensive network across Africa, Asia and the Middle East in strengthening global detection and deterrence of wildlife trafficking. The Buckingham Palace Declaration unites carriers, conservation groups and enforcement agencies to stop traffickers exploiting international transit routes.
flydubai’s involvement represents an important step in enhancing security standards and supporting international conservation efforts across the aviation industry.
